I released Pops to the bridge on Aug. 17. He was my second greyhound but the first male canine in my home. He was so gentlemanly & so soulful. He was my rock when the storms of life got rough as well as my guiding star. He answered to Popeye, Pops and a host of other loving nicknames (including Pop Rock & Pop Star) but I think his favorite was Big Handsome. Big Handsome was my favorite, too. He battled a host of physical problems but he did so without complaint or hassle. He let me play nurse without saying anything if I accidentally wrapped his leg too tight or had to administer a pill or two. He always looked at me like he knew I was there to help. It amazed me that he was so thankful and patient. He certainly paved the way for the other boys in my home.

Pops: I miss you greeting me in the mornings, letting me know it was time for your breakfast. I miss you wiping your mouth on the sofa after meals (you taught Zoe well & she continues the tradition). I miss you on our morning walks – you always insisted on them – rain or shine (and you passed that torch to Cabo). I miss your soulful eyes gazing at me in the evenings. The love in those eyes was so clear.

Run like the wind my sweet boy, you're pain free now. I know you had greyt siblings & many greyt friends to meet you at the bridge so I have no doubt you are being the social butterfly you always were. I can't believe how blessed I was to have you with me as long as I did.
