Friends

Sonya (T) hanging with foster brother Stark! Sonya loves to play with toys, especially ones with squeakers. After a long day, Sonya decided to lay down with a toy next to Stark, and Tony snapped this picture!

Foods & Loves?

Excuse me, sir? I heard you were giving out foods and loves, is that true?

New friends

Sonya is settling into her new foster home quite nicely. She’s discovered the toy basket (hint: she likes them all!) and has figured out what a pond is. Let’s just say she made her entrance with a splash! 😂 She’s only been with us for a couple of days, but she’s definitely loving it so far!

Sonya (R) with her foster brother Stark, who is unimpressed with the camera. She doesn’t seem to mind, though!

These two love getting rubs! 😍 This little girl is such a sweetheart.

Settling in

Sonya has been with us for a couple of weeks now and is beginning to settle in. At first, many things seemed to make her nervous, but she is learning the household routine from her foster brother and 2 foster sisters.

Sonya is a collector - she likes to acquire toys, socks, shoes, random pieces of cardboard, etc and pile them around her bed. She has started coming up to us more for attention.

She is still a little hesitant about the hardwood floors in the kitchen but will now cross them with encouragement, especially when food is involved. It's been fun to see her come out of her shell a little more each day. She'll make a fun addition to someone's household!

Long time....

I just realized how long it has been since I posted to Sonya's blog. I'll post some pictures and then try to write some new stuff.

Lamby, one of her favorite stuffies.

Just taking a break.

She is still is shy about going in or out doors. Don't know why.

She goes to her crate and gets all of her toys, one at a time and brings them out to her bed. She doesn't put them away, that's my job to keep the fun going.

Who's at the door?

Sonya, for some unknown reason, was afraid of going in or out of doors. Here she is getting a little bolder standing partway in the kitchen door.

Here she is acting like she's not at all interested in the food on the table. She hasn't counter surfed, which is a good thing.

Her she is with my other foster Marcie. Both are sweet girls and get along very well.

This is Marcie's crate. Sonya's is a few feet away. Marcie's not thrilled at having this close a buddy, but they actually get along very well.

Sonya is doing well, but she is just a puppy and has a lot to learn. She was very shy and would run away if I reached out for her. Now, she enjoys my petting her.

She is a little bit of a pack rat. She collects my shoes, stuffy toys, a kitchen whisk, wool scarf, junk mail, headphones, etc. She never hurts any of her "treasures" and doesn't mind when I reclaim them. Her favorite is to take all of the stuffed animals out of Marcie's crate and bring them to hers. I will put them back in Marcie's and so the games go on.

She was so shy when she arrived that I didn't try to train her very much. I'm glad Marcie was her to be a big sister. So, I haven't trained her on a leash or stairs. She is smart and funny and I'm sure she will learn how to be a great pet and family member.

I see that her birthday has been posted as 9/1/2019, so not quite 1-1/2 years.

Getting to know her

Well, we made it home, introductions were made, and Marcie and new foster Sonya seem OK with each other. Although I do think Marcie (5 years old) thinks Sonya (1-2 years old) is a little slow. Sonya arrived in Nashville after about a 16 hour trip from Kansas... no eating, drinking or getting out of the trailer to pee or poop. I'd be slow under those circumstances.

I wish I knew more about her. I don't even know her birthday. She is very curious about what this "house" is all about. Loves being outside, even in the rain. Keeps looking up at the high ceiling and I wonder if she is critical of the cobwebs hanging out up there.

I'll post some pictures of her soon. She is a pretty little girl.
