Long Time, No Blog!

Hey friends, sorry it's been a while since I've written! I've been busy, well, being retired! I love this life! I've been making new friends, becoming a world championship stretcher and yogi, and learning how to have manners and follow rules. My FM says I am the best boy. I don't know what to say about that, I'm just being me! I have my silly moments, too!

Here I am checking out what's going on outside with my feline friend, Lucille. I no longer think kitty cats are terrifying, but I'm no dummy, I know to give them space. Lucille has really let me know what is appropriate and what isn't around here-she's the boss!

I also have travelled to my foster mom and dad's friends' houses and meet their companions. I settle in well and mind my manners. I play when it's time to play and rest when it's time to rest. Here I am with my new friend Maggie-she thought she could run fast until she met me! We did play a lot and it was so much fun!

I have to say my most favorite thing of all the things is hanging out with my people. I enjoyed watching the PGA Championship from the comfort of my bed this weekend. (Just between you and me, it wasn't the golf I liked so much, it was being able to hang with my humans!). I am really enjoying life here but am very excited to find my forever home. Could it be yours?

Road Trippin!!!

Hey Guys! Holden here! Last weekend, I went on a Road Trip! (I did not know what a road trip was, my foster mom [FM] had to tell me). We went to a farm! First things first, I had to go there in a car! I do need a little help to get up and in the car, but have no problem jumping out on my own. But when I am in the car, FM says I ride like a dream (that's me with the handsome black muzzie).

The farm was a great place! I was interested in a lot of things. This is what I do with my ears when I am learning something new. My FM says it is super cute. I came nose to nose with a cow! I wasn't really sure what to think about that!

These are my new friends Babe and Sis. They are fam dogs and *think* that they can run fast! I got along with them just fine, even though they came in a little hot when they welcomed me to the place.

Being a farm dog can be exhausting. I'm in the back, my foster bro Fox is in the front.

But all good things must come to an end. Here I am being a good boy on the ride home. Maybe I can take a permanent road trip to your home soon! I think I would adapt quickly to just about any scenario!

Saturday Check In!!!

Well hello! I've got to say, I love retired life! I'm really getting the hang of being a house pet and companion. I do like being around my people, a borderline "velcro dog", but not so much that I feel the need to be right under your feet or in your face all the time. I just like to know my people are near. Here I am looking especially handsome, or at least that's what my FM said. Check out those stems! They carry me fast around the yard when I get my zoomies, and boy is it a sight to behold!

I am just a tad nosy. I like to watch what is going on outside. If I see something out of the ordinary, I let my FM know! Sometimes I even bark, which my FM says is a little odd for a hound like me. I just want to let her know. I am mindful, and do not bark excessively or for no reason, but I just like to keep her in the loop of what is going on outside.

This week I discovered toys!!! Those soft stuffy ones are no match for me! I really showed them who is boss. I also like the tougher toys, and bones with tasty things stuffed inside! I am very easy to please and haven't ever chewed on something that I wasn't supposed to.

I feel like I am so close to being ready to find my forever home! I sleep through the night, am fairly easy to crate (a treat never hurts as a reward for going in) and wait very patiently to be released from my crate. I have gotten much better at going up and down stairs, and now I will walk on any floor surface! My FM says I am a very good boy. I hope to meet some nice folks who want to be my forever family soon!

Happy 4th!

Just wanted to check in on this fantastic Saturday to wish everyone a Happy 4th! I heard some of those....what do they call them?....oh yeah, fireworks! last night, and while they caught my attention, I wasn’t scared! That’s because I’m brave!

Happy Independence Day!

Hey everybody! Holden here! I'm new to retirement and blogging, but my foster mom (FM) says that is the best way for folks to get to know me, especially during this....what did she call it...pandemic? Man, those meet and greets sure sound like fun, and I hope all the greyhounds and their people can gather together again really soon.

I arrived in Nashville Saturday, June 27. I meet my foster mom and dad and figured out really fast that I love a nice comfy bed. I feel so lucky, because I have several to choose from in my foster home. I will usually chose the one closest to where my FM is. I sure do enjoy her company. I've been told I am an excellent house guest-I am quiet and have learned how to tuck myself into my crate at night when it's time for bed. I am a bit of a sloppy eater and drinker, but I just get so excited! I tend to eat more slowly and deliberately than the average hound, but this may change as I continue to get comfortable and figure things out.

I am a good boy and am cat and small dog safe. I'd rather not even look at a kitty cat if I don't have to! They are small but I find them rather terrifying. I am sweet and fairly submissive around other dogs, even the small ones. I have met several little people, and did fine. I think I would like a home with little people if they are sweet and give good ear scritches. I have not tried to counter surf or get on any furniture. I am slow with going up and down steps, but I can do it all by myself!

My FM thinks I should tell you how handsome I am, but I don't like to brag. I do have the most amazing copper eyes, and a handsome black muzzie with a white spot at the tip of my nose and chin. But I'll let you decide that on your own. Can't wait to keep telling you about all my retirement adventures!
