For most, that may be true;

They’d not met the likes of you.

From the moment that I met you
Till the day I let you go
A more perfect hound than you,
I was sure I’d never know.

You came as my first foster
I’d no intent that you would stay
But within moments of your entry
I swear I heard you say:
“I really like it in your home”
“I’d really like to stay”,
“And I’d love you, and you’d love me, until my dying day”.

So there I sat, across from you
And looking in your eyes;
How could I refuse your one request?
How could I say good-bye?

So while I had you in my life
I loved you every day
For I knew as I’d known before
One day you’d go away.
A handsome boy, a pixie face
A kind and gentle heart
I couldn’t resist, I just gave in,
You had me from the start.
