	Meet and Greets Meet & Greets are on Saturdays at pet stores in Nashville, Smyrna, Bellevue, Spring Hill and Cool Springs as well as the Factory at Franklin and Brentwood Borders. 	Borders at the Holidays Our good friends at Borders in Brentwood have invited us to giftwrap for customers in exchange for donations during the December holidays. It's lots of fun since we can have hounds with us and talk up greyhound adoption while saving customers the trouble of wrapping their own gifts. Interested in getting involved? 	Fall Picnic Each September, greyhound adopters and people interested in adoption from across the region gather for an afternoon of fellowship, food, live and silent auctions and games in the large pavilion at the rear of Centennial Park in Nashville. This year's picinic is 1-4 p.m., Sunday Sept. 20. For more details, contact Jan Bornstein at janbornstein@aol.com.
	New Dog Arrivals Every four to six weeks, GPA/N volunteers pick up adoptable dogs from the track in West Memphis, Ark. or from Birmingham, Ala. It's always exciting to see new arrivals on the day they begin their lives at pets. The first stop is usually Dizzy's Dog Wash where they get their first bath ever. 	Winter Gathering Break out of the winter doldrums and attend GPA/N's annual Winter Gathering at the Tennessee Livestock Center in Murfreesboro. It's an afternoon of shopping with vendors selling greyhound-related merchandise, food and games. The highlight of the day is the fun run. For info, contact Jan Bornstein at janbornstein@aol.com. 	Dog Daze GPA/N adopters and their hounds join Nashville Humane Association for the annual Dog Day in the Park in Centennial Park. It's a day of games and activities and spotlights dog lovers, animal-related businesses and the work of canine rescue groups. GPA/N also is at the Shelbyville's October Celebration Pet Day, Murfreesboro's November Barkaroo and Maury County's November Pet Day. 	Vanderbilt Football Each year, GPA/N adopters staff a booth at Vanderbilt home games where we sell team merchandise. In exchange, GPA/N gets 10% of the booth take. Sales at our booth end just as the game starts, so volunteers get free admission to the game. Interested in getting involved? Contact Ray Wong at rglwong1@comcast.net.
	Sounds Baseball Summer wouldn't be complete without Nashville Sounds baseball. GPA/N steps up to bat as a Purity Charity of the Game at two games every season. It's a chance for folks to meet greyhounds, learn about adoption and donate to our work. Every August, the Sounds generously provide area non-profits with free tickets to a game. GPA/N adopters look forward to this free evening at the ballpark and wear their greyhound t-shirts to show support for adoption. 	Williamson County Fair The fair this year is Aug. 7-15 and GPA/N will have a booth in the evening inside the air-conditioned Williamson County Exposition building where we'll have hounds and talk with folks about greyhound adoption. 	Bellevue Picnic The May Bellevue community picnic in Red Caboose Park is a day-long opportunity for potential adopters to meet greyhounds and to learn about what great pets they make.
	Santa Paws Santa arrives early at area PetsMarts, so during December our volunteers operate the Pet Photos with Santa booth in area stores. 	Greyhound Walks Watch the adopter Yahoo list and the splash page for information about activities such as the Nashville Cares AIDS Walk and the Mothers Against Drunk Driving Walk Like MADD. GPA/N volunteers and their hounds will be there helping raise money for these causes and introducing their hounds to people interested in greyhound adoption.
