Saturday Check In!!!

Well hello! I've got to say, I love retired life! I'm really getting the hang of being a house pet and companion. I do like being around my people, a borderline "velcro dog", but not so much that I feel the need to be right under your feet or in your face all the time. I just like to know my people are near. Here I am looking especially handsome, or at least that's what my FM said. Check out those stems! They carry me fast around the yard when I get my zoomies, and boy is it a sight to behold!

I am just a tad nosy. I like to watch what is going on outside. If I see something out of the ordinary, I let my FM know! Sometimes I even bark, which my FM says is a little odd for a hound like me. I just want to let her know. I am mindful, and do not bark excessively or for no reason, but I just like to keep her in the loop of what is going on outside.

This week I discovered toys!!! Those soft stuffy ones are no match for me! I really showed them who is boss. I also like the tougher toys, and bones with tasty things stuffed inside! I am very easy to please and haven't ever chewed on something that I wasn't supposed to.

I feel like I am so close to being ready to find my forever home! I sleep through the night, am fairly easy to crate (a treat never hurts as a reward for going in) and wait very patiently to be released from my crate. I have gotten much better at going up and down stairs, and now I will walk on any floor surface! My FM says I am a very good boy. I hope to meet some nice folks who want to be my forever family soon!

Happy 4th!

Just wanted to check in on this fantastic Saturday to wish everyone a Happy 4th! I heard some of those....what do they call them?....oh yeah, fireworks! last night, and while they caught my attention, I wasn’t scared! That’s because I’m brave!

Happy Independence Day!

Hey everybody! Holden here! I'm new to retirement and blogging, but my foster mom (FM) says that is the best way for folks to get to know me, especially during this....what did she call it...pandemic? Man, those meet and greets sure sound like fun, and I hope all the greyhounds and their people can gather together again really soon.

I arrived in Nashville Saturday, June 27. I meet my foster mom and dad and figured out really fast that I love a nice comfy bed. I feel so lucky, because I have several to choose from in my foster home. I will usually chose the one closest to where my FM is. I sure do enjoy her company. I've been told I am an excellent house guest-I am quiet and have learned how to tuck myself into my crate at night when it's time for bed. I am a bit of a sloppy eater and drinker, but I just get so excited! I tend to eat more slowly and deliberately than the average hound, but this may change as I continue to get comfortable and figure things out.

I am a good boy and am cat and small dog safe. I'd rather not even look at a kitty cat if I don't have to! They are small but I find them rather terrifying. I am sweet and fairly submissive around other dogs, even the small ones. I have met several little people, and did fine. I think I would like a home with little people if they are sweet and give good ear scritches. I have not tried to counter surf or get on any furniture. I am slow with going up and down steps, but I can do it all by myself!

My FM thinks I should tell you how handsome I am, but I don't like to brag. I do have the most amazing copper eyes, and a handsome black muzzie with a white spot at the tip of my nose and chin. But I'll let you decide that on your own. Can't wait to keep telling you about all my retirement adventures!
