Reclining Courching Dog

Here's my latest personal yoga move. I call it Reclining Crouching Dog. Sure is comfortable. Notice how I've positioned the pillow for extra support?Wish this rain would get done. I hate having to clean the mud from between my toes, but I do like it when they rub me down with a towel to get me dry. Touch me! Touch me! I'm all about it.

Yoga Dog 1

I love trying new things, so today I'm experimenting with some yoga poses my foster mom does. Of course, they're not exactly like hers, but I have lots of flexibility. I call this side-saddle, downward-facing dog. From here I can easily jump into regular down dog. Or maybe flop over for some shavasana.

We had a good weekend here. I crate great, even when the people are home and tried some new stuff, including tomatoes and blueberries.

Did I mention I have a repeat homevisit with a returning adopter tomorrow...could be a good sign. Standby for more news on that.

Blur of Fur

See, see! I told you I'd learn to come down the steps by today. In fact, it's so much fun going up and down the steps I've done it at least 10 times this morning. Need to be sure I remember how as I may shortly be meeting possible families.

Other things I've conquored that are required skills for retired racers:

Jumping in the car unassisted.

Going straight to my crate when the two-leggeds yell "kennel up."

Being quiet in my closed crate, even when people are around.

Sleeping quietly in my crate at night.

Playing with toys-just yesterday I disembowled the lobster - What fun!

Coming when I'm called, even if I don't feel like it.

Always, always, ALWAYs peeing outside. Ditto pooping.

Still need to learn to take treats by hand. It seems to be important to the two-leggeds that I do this one. Personally, off the floor, out of their hands - it's all the same to me!

Rise to the Occasion

Big day today. I finally learned how to go up the steps. It took a lot of courage, but I made it! So exciting. It's a skill that moves me one step closer to a forever home. Can hardly wait for tomorrow when I learn to go back DOWN the steps.

Checking out the yard

One of my favorite post-racing things to do is to wander around the backyard. There r lots of shady and sunny spots and lots of things to check out. I'm especially interested in the bunny poop and the ground squirrels. I've even eaten some of the grass and an pretty sure it could use some salt.

It's a miracle to me that all I have to do is glance at the backdoor and the two-leggeds rush over to let me out. I think all the training I've done with them since I got here is really paying off.

Sunny Day

I love a nice sunny day, don't you? Especially when it makes my black coat gleam like this. I bet you could see yourself in my coat. I've spent most of the day hanging out here on the porch with my foster sister in between napping inside and napping out in the yard. Being a retired racer is harder work than I expected.

Where to Sleep

Just arrived in town on Wednesday. Lots of things to get used to. Like where to sleep. At the track I had my own crate and hunk of carpet to bed down on, so. I figured they want me to lay on this nice fuzzy carpet. But I'm kind of curious about these big round cushy things in all the rooms. The resident hounds tell me they're great, but I've had so many things to get used to today, I think I'll save that one for tomorrow.
