Busy Day!

Just got back from the Picnic and I'm tired! I met some new Greyhound friends and lots of nice people in the foster area. Maybe one of them will decide I would make the perfect addition to their home!

Foster Mom says I rode really well in the car on the way there and back, although I do need some help getting in and out of the truck. We also got to take a new toy home from the Picnic - once I rest up a little bit, I'll be sure to test it out!

Now to get some rest so I'm ready for more attention and playtime later!

Consolation Prize

Like my orange elephant? It's my consolation prize. I didn't get picked at the home visit on Sunday...something about my penchant for picking up stuff and the people having lots of music equipment laying around. Did I mention I've already killed the squeaker in my elephant?

I was bummed, but understand, and they took Chalk instead. He's a nice guy who just lost his home, so I figured it was only fair that he get adopted first. I hear there maybe some HVs this weekend. Hopefully, I'll get to go on one of those.

Waiting 4 My Homevisit

I'm waiting and watching. I have a home visit with some nice folks in Kentucky this weekend. They've asked for me especially. I hope I don't disappoint them.

I'm excited, so I've been watching for the HV people to pull in the drive. Of course, they won't be here 'til Sunday, but like I said, I'm excited.

No Respect

Foster dogs get no respect. Went to my favorite bed to nap and She's laying in it. I stood over Her for a while but She ignored me. Didn't even open Her eyes. I tried to lay on the edge of the bed, just to make my point, but I slid off. Oh, well. Even where I've ended up I'm gettng plenty of down draft from the ceiling fan. Still beats lounging in a crate at the track. I love it that all I have to do is go stand by the back door and they rush over to let me out. Sometimes, just for fun, I go out the door and do a 180 and come right back in. These two-leggeds will do anything for me. Except make Her get off my favorite bed.

Watermelon Time

Ohl, man, this being a pet is just the best. We NEVER had melon at the track, but here in my foster home, I not only get melon, I get my own piece. It's so good. Almost as good as the raw chicken wing I gnawed off last week!

My Chicken

Doesn't my chicken look wonderful? The two-leggeds smoked it and flavored it with fresh rosemary. Too bad I won't get to taste it again.

By which I mean, this morning, the two-leggeds were getting my raw chicken ready. They left the room. leaving this handsome bird lying right on the edge of the counter - all naked and exposed, so I decided to do some quality assurance and grabbed it by its right wing and carried it to my test kitchen (the back bedroom) where I amputated and ate the raw right wing. (Note surgical precision of right wing amputation.)

Next thing I knew the two-leggeds were yelling and that scared me, so I ran, forgetting my chicken. They found it and I didn't see it again until it looked like the pix above. I know for a fact that the raw chicken was better.

Legs Up

One of the great things about retirement is that I have so many interesting places to nap and lots of space to try new positions. So far, I haven't found a single one that doesn't suit me perfectly

Resting 4 the Weekend

Here I am prepping for a busy weekend by catching some extra ZZZZs. Note the adorable folded ears and cute pink tongue. Just two of my best features. Squinty sleepy eyes not so much.

On Saturday, I'm going to the Bowling Green Meet and Greet from noon - 1:30 (yeah long car ride). If I play my cards right, we'll stop at the Starbucks on the way home and I can get a PupCup.

On Sunday, I'm joining Tuckson and Alwyn for a home visit with some folks that live downtown. It'll be my first HV and a chance to sort of get a feel for the process. Of course, anything is possible!

In the Yard

I love this thing where I get to go in and out whenever I want. All I have to do is stand by the back door and look hopeful and they open the door for me. Sometimes we play a game where I go out and turn around and come rightr back in. I think it's fun. The two-leggeds don't seem to share my enthusiasm for it.

This big gate is a source of never-ending fascination ever since right after a thunderstorm, there was all this racket on the other side. Lots of people and banging around and tree limbs moving. Now we have a lot more sun in the yard. I think they did this just for me.

Regal Hound

Aren't I handsome? This is my favorite bed. It allows me to get maximum down draft from the ceiling fan and to keep an eye on the two-leggeds who come in often to stare at the talking box. Also, I can see all the toys in the room from here.

Have i mentioned how much I like toys? I've yet to meet one I didn't like, but I particularly like balls (squeaky, size of a grapefruit) and also small toys (about half the size of my head) that make noise.

Life is good, though it would be better if I grew opposable thumbs.

On Duty

Always good to check the perimeter in the morning. You never know when there's been an overnight incursion of bunnies or moles. Nothing gets passed me, not even a toast crust on an end table, an errant piece of kibble on the floor or another dog getting petted on the QT. I like to watch.I'm a sighthound, remember?

Making New Friends

I had a great time at M&G last weekend. So much so, I hope to go back this week. It's a fun place to meet new people and hounds and someone is always passing out treats or squeaking a toy or wanting to pet a greyhound

I've been shopping for a permanent home there. So far, I've met all kinds of cool folks, but no one that has set my heart a flutter. I know you're out there. Come find me!

Toy Time

Have had a fabulous day moving toys from one place to another. I esp. like the ones that squeak, though the ones that bounce when I throw them in the air are cool. Also like the ones that try to get away from me, though I'm sure they're not alive...well, pretty sure.

So, I hear some hounds have had trouble with all these thunderstorms. Makes them hide or pace or pant. Not me. I snoozed right through all the wind and the rain and the lightning. I did wake up when I heard the other hounds chewing on treats that the two-leggeds passed out. Actually, I almost jumped up when I heard the packaging crackle but I was trying to be polite.

Yum

Man, this stuff smells so good. I hope they start putting this stuff on my food! Life at home is going well. I'm learning to do the steps and still solid on my housebreaking. Other people come around pretty often, so I'm getting to meet them. I LOVE new people! Linda Rogers came by today. She's doing a 401(Grey) foster dog sponsorship for me in honor of her hound, Turk, who died earlier this spring. I sure am grateful, but sorry about Turk heading to the Rainbow Bridge.

Making Friends

Made my M&G debut yesterday. BOW WOW WOW!

PetSmart is quite a place. Food, people, other dogs. Did I mention the food? I had a great time. Made lots of greyhound friends...so many hounds. It's hard to keep up. Lots of treats. The little dogs were everywhere and I had to keep reminding myself that they aren't squeaky toys! Probably a good idea to steer clear of them.

The best part is all the people I got to lean on. Check out my picture. I'm a champion leaner. I think it should be an Olympic sport and I'd always win the gold.

Hey everybody-

I’m Kip and I’m new in town. Got in just yesterday. I think I’m going to like this new life, especially lhaving the backyard And being able to go in and out whenever I want. So far, so good on the housebreaking thing, though I did pee on a pot of basil and boy did they yell at me!

I had a peaceful night in my crate and a good breakfast. So now, I’ve found one of these funny fuzzy things and I’m going to have a nap. Hopefully the rest of the day will go well.
