Inside Out

Thought you might like a look at how my left rear leg looked when I came to town back in December. If you compare it to how your hound's back leg looks you can see it's a lot different. My leg was't stable because it needed surgery to plate it. It hurt a lot.

Here's my leg back in February after the surgery. I was doing pretty well recovering and could walk on it pain free as long as I took my time. Not much after this, my body starting rejecting the hardware — that happens to dogs, too, just like people — and I got an infection, so they had to remove the hardware and use a different approach. I'll post pix of that when I can get them.

Me and Buttercup

Okay, so I know it's hard to see her, but on the bottom right is my new best friend, Buttercup. Never knew about cats 'til I retired, but I think I like them (in a good way!). She and I share beds together sometimes. I think she's trying to make me feel better, cause my left rear leg - the one I had surgery on - is really bothering me. I heard the people talking and I'm headed back to the vet, maybe for more surgery as they think I'm rejecting the metal plate that's holding my bum leg.

Pearly Whites

Nice teeth, huh? My foster and I are working hard to keep them so sparkly. I'm still recovering from two surgeries for my broken leg, so there's lots of laying around. It's something I'm good at. Leg feels pretty good.

Back in Nashville after my surgery in Memphis and some time in rehab. So glad to be home, especially since I get to go out whenever I want. Laying out in the sun on a day like this is special for me 'cause at the track, I lived on a schedule and only got to go out when everyone else did. Laying in the grass is so much nicer than the sand in the turnout pen. At least it's cleaner.

My first week

I'm adjusteing to retirement quickly and I'm prety sure I'm a sweetheart of a dog. Just ask Buttercup, the resident cat. She's pretty nice and we've had some good talks. She's assured me that being a pet is the best, so I'm going to try hard to fit it. I have surgery on my broken back right leg next week. Fingers crossed for me, okay?
