Making Moves

So I knew River and Jade, the resident hound, were getting along really well... but I never imagined this! Jade is super uneasy about anyone being in her personal space, but she's even letting River hold her paw now. It looks staged, but this is a candid! Usually the resident hounds show the fosters the ropes, but I think there are some mutual benefits to this relationship.

Car riding 101 with "River"

Since 'Livewire" is a pretty intense call name for this chill guy, he's going by the name "River", which is definitely a better fit.

One thing River is still working on figuring out are car rides. He love love loves getting in, sticking his head out the window, sniffing around, etc. His only area of confusion is about how to position himself comfortably! He's tried chilling casually in the floor space,

He's tried sitting in the floor in his "good boy" position,

and he's even tried yelling at the other hounds to move out of the way:

Many of his other wacky seating arrangements have gone unpictured to ensure driver safety, but all the same they are reliably hilarious (I try not to let him see me chuckling at him). He'll figure it out one of these days!

What a gentleman!

This sweet boy has only been with us for a few days and has already stolen our hearts! On the way home he tried to lay down in the back seat of my car and he slowly... rolled... onto the floor! He was a trooper though, and decided that he'd rather sit up front with me:

He has been an excellent leash walker and snuggler, he hasn't had a single potty issue, and he's been such a quick learner! He has gone from 0 to 9 on his stair mastery over the last few days, and is already responding to commands. He's quiet and calm in his crate, even for multiple hours and overnight. He's also been a perfect gentleman to our shy, submissive resident hound; he'll let her eat/drink/walk/lay down without crowding her. Overall, he's just a chill, affectionate, handsome guy! How could you resist this?
