Adaptable Poppy

I came to a new house today and I fit right in with my new foster brother Bo. He even let me have one of his slumberballs!

I am very curious about new things and like to be there to sniff things out...

sweet girl

I hear I have a home visit this weekend :)

Poppy and technology

Today I met a strange machine that chased me around the house, but I think it’s harmless. I barked once and then followed it around and jumped back when it got too close. It’s actually kind of a fun game. I also saw a kid on a hover board which was confusing so I barked at that too. Does it count as a person if it looks like they’re flying?

Success at M&G

Today’s meet and greet was wonderful! I met two families who were drawn to my beautiful eyes and they said that I was really asking to go home with them. Yes please! I also picked out a new stuffy that I promptly destroyed. It was fun while it lasted!

Come meet me!

I’ll be at the Meet & Greet today from 1130-120ish! I would love to make some new friends!

My foster sister Coin won’t be there today so I will get all the attention! She gives such sassy looks, doesn’t she? 😂 I don’t really give sassy glances like some greyhounds—I’d rather just give you a big goofy smile.

That smile

I have been a sick pup the last week, but after a diet of chicken and rice I’m feeling much better! Even with a tummy ache I wag my tail every time my humans come into a room.

I want to be the first one to greet you at the door and give lots of snuggles before wanting to be let outside.

I have such a goofy smile that my mom was inspired to paint me!

I can wander around the yard forever. I love being outside!

More fun facts for potential adopters:

-Poppy was initially a little space territorial with my own hound, but now they are best buds. She just needs a little time to adjust!

-She is a mastermind when it comes to sneaking food. I caught her opening the cabinet door to the garbage can last night! She probably needs the kitchen to be gated off and a vigilant eye

-We’re still working on leash pulling on walks but she calms down as we get into it. She is just so excited about life, which is pretty adorable.

-Whenever I have guests visit the house, everyone dotes on Poppy and comments on what a sweet and loving pup she is. With the right family who is willing to put in some work on training her, she will reward you with heaps of love and loyalty. This is an amazing dog :)

I’m the only greyhound my foster mom has met that can climb her steep second floor stairs— and without any help! I appear to LOVE climbing stairs just for fun. I always try to climb stairs I see on walks too.

I have the best smile.

More head scratches!

My little foster sister likes to rest her head on me when we go for walks. I’m pretty big for a female!

Meeting a Beagle

The last few days Poppy got to interact with a beagle puppy who visited Nashville. This was a big test for Poppy’s patience as she doesn’t like dogs in her space, and this beagle just loved getting all up on her. After an adjustment period, they were able to coexist and play together.

Poppy continues to be a sweetie who just wants to snuggle and love on her humans.

Careful: she’s a counter surfer!

Radnor Lake

The pups had a great time walking the Radnor Lake trail! Luckily it was shady and stayed in the 80s today. Poppy is still working on not pulling the leash when we walk— she is a fast walker and very curious! By the end of the walk she was tired and walking beside me. We met two separate people who were won over by Poppy and Coin and wanted to know more about greyhound adoption! Great job being cute Poppy!

Hot summer days

We’ve had some lazy days of wandering the backyard and staying cool in the AC. Poppy continues to be her sweet energetic self.

She likes her crate, dog beds, and the cold floor. Comfy anywhere!

She was probably just responding the the sounds on the tv...but she does seem very interested in watching! She’s interested in literally everything.

Vacation foster

My foster family is on vacaction so I get to hang out with a new foster for the week! So far I’ve gotten along great with my foster pup Coin, but I do like my space when I’m sleeping. Yesterday (my first day) I was pacing a lot and whining, but today I have mellowed out. Maybe I got tired out from today’s M&G or I’m just settling in. Either way, today has been a great day!

My temporary foster mom has noticed:

-I like to play with toys— I discovered the toy box and picked some out! I’ll toss around a squeaky toy and have bursts of energy but then lay back down

-I look like I’m smiling because of my sweet face, and I pant a lot

-I love to cuddle and greet strangers

-I take treats gently out of human hands

-I am very curious and like to sniff around the whole house

I’m a very friendly pup who just needs a family to give me love and attention. I’m still working on some basics like leash walking and socializing with other dogs, but I know I’ll get there quickly!

Quite a "Popsy"

This beautiful young lady has had quite the day. She's still curious about everything: even what's in my shirt drawer and under her bed!

Boy, does she love food! To her, "our food", "my food", "their food" all means "her food". Luckily, she mostly left the RH's food alone. She'll say she only tried to smell it a few times...

She was starting to not smell as pretty as she looked, so we gave her a bath. Now she'll be all rosey and sweet for 100 Oaks meet-n-greet tomorrow!

Poppy is vacationing with a new foster family this weekend! She was extremely curious at drop-off but, as you can see, the novelty quickly wore off. So far, she's fitting in well and she's been kind to the resident hound. More updates to come!

Poppy has been here almost a week. She has a lot of energy which this picture doesnt show. She doesnt like when the others dogs get too close to her when she is laying down but had no problems cozying up to the resident hound. She is small dog safe. We are still trying to work on "NO"
