Early morning walk to beat the heat this past weekend.

Enjoying the scenery

This is a pretty common Pike pose - he will find a toy and play at length with his butt in the air the whole time. ^_^

Who could resist this cute face?

Getting the hang of retirement

Pike mostly likes to be close to wherever the humans are, but he has gotten better about not immediately jumping up from the dog bed each time we get up.

Pike can be pretty goofy, and sometimes that even comes out in his sleeping positions.

The lovely weather over the past few days has afforded opportunity for some nice time in the yard. Here is Pike resting after a romp with one of his great joys in life - a ball.

Pike is a very nice walking companion. He doesn't pull on the leash, and enjoys taking in all the sights and smells.

Lazing on a Sunday

Pike enjoyed a nice, lazy Sunday morning snooze this weekend after a busy day on Saturday. On Saturday, Pike went for a nice long walk at the park. Then, he went to meet 'n' greet, where he met up with his greyhound pals, and got lots of pets and scratches. After that, the humans took him to Home Depot, where he displayed good manners. Pike does well riding in the car. He will jump right into the back of the SUV for a toy, but he then wants to have a mad play session with the toy, which doesn't work out so well for driving. ;) We are working on teaching him to get into the car by himself (sans toy), but so far he still needs some help.

Pike loves toys! He will joyfully rip apart stuffies(and may try to eat them...) in about 2.6 seconds flat, but he is quite content to find a little bit more lasting entertainment with safer "tough" toys, like kongs, or the rubbery blue "bone" in the video above.

He will also play fetch! Down the hall or in the yard, he'll chase and retrieve that ball.

Pike seems to be reinventing himself in retirement by trying out the new full-time occupation of "orbiting moon." Are you washing dishes at the sink? Pike will make sure the rug you are standing on does not escape. Are you walking to another part of the house, or out to the yard? He will be right there with you, hopping happy little circles around you all the way.

Pike has discovered the magical pile of jumbo stuffies. It only took one day for him to decide that they were better to sleep on than chew up.

A New Life and a New Friend.

Pike has made a new friend already. He is pretty much a velcro dog to the point that we almost trip over him. He was a little unsettled the first night, we put him in the crate to sleep and he was good for about three hours and then started to bark so we brought him into the bedroom and he was quiet the rest of the night. We went out for awhile today and crated him and he was fine in crate. We are working hard on NO, he thinks his nose should be everywhere. He is fun to watch run, he kind of runs like a horse.
